Yvette Marichal graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She continued her studies at Boston University, where she obtained a master's degree in journalism. Since then, she has worked as a magazine editor and in a series of television programs as a presenter and producer. Marichal also served as creative and communications director of the Global Film Festival of the Dominican Republic until 2014 when she was appointed Director General of Cinema of the Dominican Republic by President Danilo Medina. Under the direction of Marichal, the film industry of the Dominican Republic has experienced significant growth and has contributed significantly to the economy of the Dominican Republic. By ensuring favorable conditions for foreign producers, the economic impact on the Dominican economy through the production of foreign films has gone from US $ 1 million in 2013 to US $ 52 million in 2016.
