Winner of the "Discovery Filmmaker Award in Toronto Film Festival" (TIFF 2016) - among other international awards- for her first feature film "JEFFREY" . And also recognized worldwide for her short films. She is a Director, Producer, Screenwriter and Actress of Dominican origin. Her experience as an actress and her passion for cinema helped her to learn, in a self-taught way, the art of directing. In 2012, she founded YPR Films, a company that marked a before and after in the way of making social films in the Dominican Republic. This year 2017, Ms. Pérez has taken the first Dominican film project to the prestigious Cannes festival, "Candy Town" in L'Atelier de la Cinema. After filming "Jeffrey" during four years, Pérez created the "Jeffrey" nonprofit foundation to help vulnerable children and youth workers on the streets of the Dominican Republic helping them to get access to education and monetary and food incentive aiming to encourage them to study, in an effort to reduce illiteracy as the basis of development.
