Gerard Ulibarri is a Professor Emeritus at Laurentian University. His areas of research are related to Medicinal Chemistry and EcoHealth, where he developed methods for reduction of mosquitoes to avoid viral transmissions in endemic areas. He developed the ovillantas, a device that helps destroy the larvae of the mosquito that carries the Zika virus as well as the dengue, chikungunya and yellow fever.Previously, he was the Chief of the Laboratory of the Institute Henri Beaufour (IHB) in Paris where his work consisted on designing synthesis of natural products with anticancer activity and/or neuroprotective properties.
