Carolyn Robert holds a PhD (c) in International Economic Law from the Sorbonne University in Paris. She is the author of several publications on foreign trade. Carolyn is currently serving as Representative of the Inter-American Development Bank in Chile. Previously, she was Integration and Trade Lead Specialist at IDB. She has worked on issues linked to trade and investment both for the Integration and Trade Sector (INT) and the IDB Office in Europe since 1998, when she joined the Bank. Throughout her career at IDB, it is worth to highlight the organization of projects related to Aid for Trade (AfT) and other strategic trade and investment initiatives that are currently supported by the Bank. Examples of these initiatives include inter-institutional cooperation with international entities such as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on trade and investment issues. Prior to joining the Bank, Carolyn served as a Senior Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica and participated as a Senior and Principal Negotiator in several bilateral, regional and multilateral trade negotiations, including the Uruguay Round.
