Based in Washington DC, he leads teams in Guatemala and Peru working to provide practical, affordable solar energy solutions to rural communities without electricity. In 2016, GBL was one of a small group of non-profits selected by Facebook and Oculus to participate in the VR (virtual reality) for Good program. He created with his team a virtual reality film about communities without electricity with the goal of generating empathy, an emotional bond between the viewer and the families profiled in the film. Amor de Abuela was screened at the Sundance Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival, and the Festival de Cannes in 2017
