Raisa Banfield currently serves as Vice Mayor of the District of Panama, with the title: Manager of New Projects (Master Plan for Development of Panama City).
Vice Mayor Raisa Bainfield is an architect by profession and has spent many years and much effort to protect the environment. As an environmental activist has a powerful voice aimed at the protection of ecosystems at risk of Panama, which consequently becomes in protection of both natural resources and the human being living in interaction with the environment.
Vice Mayor Banfield believes that the social economic development of Panama should be linked to environmental protection, so that development and protection are to be complementary rather than conflicting. In addition, it will raise the role from the Mayor of Panama and under the leadership of Mayor Jose L. Blandon, the Municipal Government will play in defense and protection of the environment in these five years.
From 2007-2010, Co-Founder and Executive of CIAM (Center for Environmental Advocay); since 2010, Founder and current President of Sustainable Panama (STEPS), an organization that promotes alternatives to counteract the harmful practices to the environment; Ex-activist and co-founder of Alliance Pro-Town (2010), Committee for the Defence of Camino de Cruces Park and other community organizations; Coordinator and Producer of TV Show Our Planet (2010), which addresses issues of various kinds on the environment. Founder and Director of the firm RGB Architecture and Design, SA (1994-2007). It holds a degree in architecture from the University of Panama (1993).
